Rita Santos

Holds a PhD in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms (Universities of Aveiro and Porto).  Assistant Professor at the Águeda School of Technology and Management, University of Aveiro, and she has being involved in supervision activities of MSc. and PhD students. She has also been participating in research projects, such as  VoluntAge4Seniors (as coordinator) which aimed to develop a technologically mediated environment to support volunteer activities targeting older adults which included a TV Application to older adults with voice input.

As a member of DigiMedia, she develops her research activities in Interactive Television and Digital media solutions to improve health, wellbeing, quality-of-life, and active ageing. Her actual main fields of interest are :  “multimodal interaction”, “voice interaction”, “proactive behavior”, “user-centered design methods and techniques”, “usability and user experience evaluation”, “design for the elderly”, “well-being and quality of life promotion through new media”.

Currently she is member of CHIC – Cooperative Holistic View on Internet and Content project, which aims the development of a complete voice interaction solution for television, as close to human interaction as possible, and Gamers4Nature, which proposes to develop a toolkit to support game creation for mobile devices and to apply it with the aim of facilitate knowledge about environment and biodiversity concerns among young people of multiple skillsets and backgrounds.
