The pandemic has temporarily changed our lives and the way we interact with each other. Due to the risk of contagion, the interaction with other people has to some extend changed to online communication through digital media. This has also affected our teaching, collaboration, and research. Drawing from my own experience with teaching and research during the pandemic, I will discuss the role of digital media and how the swift transition to a digital-based interaction has affected the use and view of digital media. It raises questions about how you carry out teaching that typically takes place with more hands-on exercises and how you can facilitate collaboration between students. The interaction with users and partners in user-centered development and how this has unfolded during the pandemic will also be discussed. Finally, I will provide examples of how Virtual reality can be used to support learning and what opportunities it offers in digital interaction in the future.
